Can FIX / FIXLITE treat cyanobacteria / BGA?Updated 8 months ago

Yes. Both APT FIX and APT FIXLITE are effective against cyanobacteria / BGA. Treat early to prevent spreading.  

Take these steps:

1. Clear away as much as possible during water change. 
2. Remove / replace old or deteriorating growth, they are food for BGA.
3. Review / improve flow. BGA thrives in areas of poor flow.
4. Spot-dose remaining areas with FIX / FIXLITE.
5. If using APT 1, shift to APT 3/APTe or increase APT 3 dosage. Cyanobacteria grows more readily in low N environments.
6. If all fails, consider antibiotics: erythromycin.
