Can I use APT Feast without a Dark Start?Updated 18 days ago
Yes, definitelyđ
Many of our tanks, including the one above, have been set up without a dark start.Â
We recommend a dark start because it takes time for the microbial ecology of an aquarium to establish itself. It is the same reason that farmers leave their fields fallow, allowing beneficial bacteria to develop and the same plot of land to produce bountiful crops year after year.
Of course, it is possible to add plants immediately or to go with a dry start. However, based on extensive aquaculture research and the experience of thousands upon thousands of aquarists, a dark start offers many advantages.
