Do I need liquid fertilizers if I use APT JAZZ?Updated a month ago
Water column feeding reaches all plants regardless of the extent or health of their roots, however, the water column is shared by all plants and the fastest, more aggressive growers will snatch up what is available first.
On the other hand, each plant owns its own rootzone, and can feed at their leisure in their own private patch of land. To this regard, we can also choose to fertilise specific patches of substrate, boosting the growth rates of species we want to grow faster, while leaving plants that already grow too fast alone. This allows us to fertilise patches of plants specifically, whereas raising water column fertilisation does so for all species.
Root feeding has other benefits. It allows us to keep nitrate levels in the water low, which reduces algae risk significantly. It provides an easy way to practice Nitrate Limitation - keeping water column nitrates low to induce greater coloration in many species, and yet ensuring that our plants are able to get the nitrogen they require through the substrate.

Want to speed up the growth of the picky plant Hygrophila sp Chai, but not over feed plant species that are already growing too fast ? You can do so by adding APT Jazz in the root zone of the particular plant. Adding more water column fertilization will grow all species faster.
