How is APT JAZZ nitrate limiting?Updated a month ago

Nitrate limitation refers to lowering nitrate levels in the water column and not reducing nitrogen per se. Nitrogen is essential for plant growth and health and plants use more nitrogen than any other nutrient. Jazz provides ammonicial nitrogen through the root zone and ammonicial nitrogen binds to soil particles - this then allows one to dose less nitrates in the water column. Limiting nitrates in the water but providing sufficient nitrogen through the roots induces stronger coloration in many species.

Rotala rotundifolia variants such as Rotala 'blood red SG' become significantly redder under nitrate limitation.
