I have high KH but low GH. Should I use APT SKY?Updated a month ago
High KH and low GH occurs often due to the usage of commercial water softeners. These softeners exchange Calcium ions for Sodium/Potassium ions, lowering the GH but do not change the KH. Soft water plants require low KH, not low GH, so these water softeners do not help and should not be used.
If your tap water has the combination of high KH, low GH, you can still use APY SKY to raise GH to the targeted ~5 to 7 dGH zone for plants/livestock that prefer higher GH ranges.
However, do note that if you have KH above 3 dKH, it means that it is harder to keep plants that prefer soft water.
APT SKY cannot lower KH, only RO water can. If you want to grow soft water plants, using RO water makes it much easier. If you are using RO water, then simply dose 15ml per 60L of APT SKY into RO water.
If you have high KH, avoid Tonina and Syngonanthus species.
