When might APT JAZZ not work?Updated a month ago

In mature tanks with mature plants, remember that deteriorating stems DO NOT rejuvenate as a rule. Adding APT JAZZ or any other supplement will not enable decaying stems to rejuvenate - improved nutrient conditions will only allow plants to produce better quality new growth. Aquarists need to then trim/remove old growth and replant new growth to rejuvenate the tank as a whole. APT JAZZ will not solve long term substrate maintenance issues such as substrate compaction or build up of excessive organic material.

To learn how to maintain aquasoil substrates long term head here.

Read this post regarding the necessity to regularly ‘cut and replant’ plants.

Organic detritus contributes some nutrients to the substrate zone. However, large buildup of organic material is overly labile and interferes with root formation of delicate plants. Cleaning the aquasoil periodically to remove excess organic waste particulate matter is an important aspect of substrate maintenance.
