Which fertilizer should I use to prevent algae?Updated a month ago

Lean water column dosing, moderate light strength and low organic waste are the 3 pillars for algae control.

APT 1 is the leanest, so it generally provides maximum algae control. Pair it with APT Jazz in aquasoil.

If you are facing algae issues these 5 steps help:

  1. Remove decaying / deteriorating leaves - they are food for algae.
  2. Perform more frequent water changes - this removes invisible organic waste (not measurable by test kits and beyond simply nitrites or ammonia).
  3. Remove accumulated surface detritus when performing water change.
  4. Reduce light intensity and duration.
  5. Moderate feeding and/or fish population.
